Anywho..., Home, The Letters

We can fight Racism!

To whoever is reading this regardless of your skin color…..

This month has been extremely heavy. Not because of another month of unemployment, but the chaos that’s building up in this country.

Firstly, to all my black brothers and sisters and your children, I’m not black, but I see you, I hear you, I cry with you, I mourn with you and I will fight for you.

Next: To ALL the WHITE folks and NBPOC, you need to look at this:

Please DON’T you dare tell me that ALL lives matter.

Please DON’T you dare tell me that as a Chinese (by ethnicity and don’t go down the route of symantics) you feel hurt/discrimintated by people of other colors as well….

Just Stop! When you’re not a black person in American, you don’t know what it means to be black! I’m a Chinese and a female and albeit I have faced my own discriminations, but I can still do all these WITHOUT thinking twice:

I can go birding (#ChristianCooper)
I can go jogging (#AhmaudArbery)
I can relax in the comfort of my own home (#BothemJean and #AtatianaJefferson and #BreonnaTaylor)
I can ask for help after being in a car crash (#JonathanFerrell and #RenishaMcBride)
I can have a cellphone (#StephonClark)
I can leave a party to get to safety (#JordanEdwards)
I can play loud music (#JordanDavis)
I can sell CDs (#AltonSterling)
I can sleep (#AiyanaJones)
I can walk from the corner store (#MikeBrown)
I can play cops and robbers (#TamirRice)
I can go to church (Charleston9)
I can walk home with Skittles (#TrayvonMartin)
I can be a 10yr old walking with our grandfather (#CliffordGlover)
I can take out my wallet (#AmadouDiallo)
I can run (#WalterScott)
I can breathe (#EricGarner)
I can live (#FreddieGray)

So please ….

DON’T you dare tell me “I don’t see color”. This proves your entitlement!

DON’T you dare tell me that you have black or minority friends in your social circle. They and myself are not your keys to racism immunity!

DON’T you dare apologize after a black person or a minority tells you about a discrimination they are experiencing and you are just going to sit back and do nothing. Because you don’t mean it!

DON’T start a fight or throw things during a protest only to have the Black people pick up your mess or take care of you! Your job is to PROTECT AND DEFEND them!

If you’re not part of the solution, YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM!

If you want to be part of the solution and don’t know where to start, you don’t need to talk to your black friends to get educated and PLEASE for the love of God, if you can get that promotion or that job or that education or that something that got you success, you can jolly well check the internet, social media to get that education needed. It is not their job to tell you their history nor educate you. Here’s an Anti-Racism Resources to start, courtesy of a connection I made this week.
